As a Software Engineer II within the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) organization here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and management of complex systems and solutions that drive innovation, safety, and efficiency in the aerospace industry. You will work within cross-functional teams on cutting-edge projects that transform the way aircraft operate. Your experience in software engineering will be instrumental in shaping the future of aerospace technology.

In this role within the Military Traffic & Transponder Product Engineering team, you will impact the development and delivery of cutting-edge solutions that support Honeywell’s aerospace initiatives, helping to drive innovation and maintain our leadership in the industry.

 

On our team, you will have the opportunity to work on next-generation and new product development projects, directly contributing to the advancement of aviation technology in the Airborne Traffic, Collision Avoidance & Surveillance Avionics space. You will have ownership for systems engineering development at every aspect of the systems life cycle.

 

You will report directly to our Sr Engineering Manager, working out of Phoenix, AZ on a Hybrid work schedule.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Drive customer engagement while delivering programs on schedule, within scope, and on budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions in accordance with project specifications.
  • Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of software projects within scope and budget
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software engineering
  • Ability to code in multiple languages.


Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
  • At least 2 years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Assembly
  • Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
  • Understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architecture principles.
  • Ability to manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies effectively

 

WE VALUE

  • Familiarity with RF communications
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Bitbucket
  • Familiarity with signal processing, test, and embedded software experience
  • Familiarity with various application areas supporting Avionics functions, Navigation and Airborne Surveillance (TCAS, Transponder, ADS-B, DME, UAT).
  • Experience working with Defense Customers preferred 
  • Competence to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience.
